After a rough week of being sick in bed with nausea and fatigue, I'm finally back in action - just in time for the weekend. So, definitely a happy Friday for me and hopefully all of you as well! I'm headed out of town tomorrow for a short weekend getaway with my family before school starts, but tomorrow before we leave, we are making a stop at Metro Diner in Tamarac, Florida for brunch. Brunch is my favorite meal to eat out with my family because we all love sleeping in and still being able to get breakfast. And Metro Diner is my new brunch heaven!
I couldn't be happier that Metro Diner, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri, opened a location in my neighborhood recently in late July. Before their arrival, we were limited on good brunch options close to home. And, all of those options only serve brunch on Sundays. That's the case for most of South Florida. If you're looking for brunch Monday through Saturday, you're going to have a hard time finding a place, or at least one that's as good as Metro Diner.
The Metro Diner menu is a big one, full of great options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They serve breakfast all day, so not to worry if you're like me and like breakfast for any meal. They're famous for their Fried Chicken and Waffle, which I still have to try. There are so many great dishes on the menu, it's tough to choose. I've had the Belgian Waffle as well as the Bissell Breakfast which includes a stack of pancakes, bacon, toast, and grits/hash browns. Both of these were terrific. I can't wait to try the biscuits and gravy and their Pound Cake French Toast - OMG!
Their menu isn't limited to breakfast, they have tons of great choices for lunch and dinner. They have diner-favorites like the Meatloaf Plate and Chicken Pot Pie as well as Charleston Shrimp and Grits, burgers, and sandwiches. And for those of you looking for lighter, healthier options, they have you covered as well for any meal. You can choose from yogurt, fruit, and granola for breakfast or a variety of soups and salads for lunch and dinner.
In addition to delicious food, the Metro Diner atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Multiple staff members, including the attentive and kind manager, David, stopped by our table to say hello and refill our coffee as needed. Oh, and let me just suggest the Bavarian Chocolate coffee - this fresh roast is slap-your-momma amazing! They have other flavors as well as herbal teas but trust me on the Bavarian Chocolate. David, sir, you were spot on with that recommendation!
Currently, Metro Diner is in nine different states which you can check out HERE. If you have the opportunity to stop in a Metro Diner location near you or at one in a town you're visiting, please do because you won't be disappointed. Check your location's specific hours and menu HERE. And, be sure to let me know in the comments what you think and what dishes you enjoy. Happy weekend and brunching, all! - Jill xoxo
