Spring Break in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

 Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Happy Spring Break, all! I hope you're all enjoying some fun in the sun and getting your tan on and ready for summer, which will be here before we know it.

My youngest son's Spring Break 2017 was last week and we took a quick, three-day trip over to the Gulf Coast of Florida. We love the beaches on the West Coast of Florida so much. They're a lot different than our East Coast Florida beaches. The blue-green waters are shallow for quite a distance from the fine, white sandy shoreline. The pace of life is quite different on the Gulf side as well. It tends to be a little slower, more relaxed, and easy-going.

Because we planned our trip so last minute and on a whim, most of the beach house and condo rentals were already booked by out-of-state spring breakers. We were lucky enough to find a great place in Indian Rocks Beach through Airbnb just a walk across the street to the beach.

The cute, three-story, townhouse had plenty of space with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Located just across the street from the beach and within walking distance to several shops and restaurants made it the perfect place for my husband and I to stay with our son and his friend.

The community where our rental was located had a large pool and patio area that our second story balcony overlooked. While I enjoyed my morning coffee out on the balcony, I would watch my son and his friend enjoy their morning swim. After breakfast each morning, we'd pack up and head to the beach for a couple of hours for skim boarding, dolphin watching (we spotted families of dolphins daily), and ocean-frolicking. Our rental even came with beach chairs and an umbrella in a convenient caddy to wheel to the beach.

We cooked breakfast every morning and either lunch or dinner rather than eating out every meal. It's more cost-effective for us to prepare our meals vs. eating out, and when you rent a property with a fully-equipped kitchen, including an outdoor electric grill, it just makes better sense.

My husband and I did get to an enjoy a lunch for just the two of us at Guppy's on the Beach Grill & Bar. The food was terrific in a relaxed, calm, beachy atmosphere. We sat outside on their covered patio where a nice ocean breeze kept us cool.

If you're looking for relaxed places to take the kids for ice cream or burgers, the Kooky Coconut has several delicious treats. Or you could visit Lu Lu's Ice Cream and Candy Shop for a ton of different ice cream flavors and amazing milk shakes to cool you off after a day at the beach.

Indian Rocks Beach is family friendly and relaxing. The people are nice in this quiet little beach town. We'll definitely make another trip there and book in advance to stay in one of their many gorgeous rental homes sitting right on the sand! - Jill xoxo
