I hope you had a great weekend and a successful Monday! My weekend zoomed by as fast as last week did, but it was productive and relaxing. Today was full of laundry and errands for me, and holy moly, was it a hot one! Summer has definitely arrived here in South Florida – 95 degrees today – wow!
I took most of last week off from the blog and photo shoots. If you’ve ever blogged, you feel me when I say, I was brain-fried, tired, and a little burned out. If you aren’t a blogger or content creator, don’t misunderstand burn out to mean that I no longer love and feel passion for blogging. The love and passion are still there 100%!
Blogging and social media content creation demand a lot of time. Although most of us do it part-time, it’s still a seven day per week commitment. Add a husband, children, pets, household responsibilities, and a severe issue with not knowing when to pause and take time off to relax, and well, you end up burned out.
I rested, napped, relaxed, read, and enjoyed a few days doing as little as possible, and it was AWESOME! I also interviewed with an interior design company and am starting my new position with the company later this week. I couldn’t be more thrilled and excited, so cross your fingers for me!
Now that we’re all caught up on what I’ve been up to and not up to lately, let’s get down to some style nitty gritty. How pretty is this little cold shoulder dress?! As soon as I spotted it on the mannequin, I made a beeline for it. I immediately began a little prayer for my size because I had to have it. (I left that poor mannequin naked - had to - last one in my size. Don’t judge, you would have done the same thing!)
I’m really picky about floral prints. They can be a little obnoxious and too bold for my taste. But, this one I love. It’s not too loud and the print looks perfect on the blush pink dress. It’s short, but not too short, and combined with the ruffle detail, flouncy, lightweight material, and cold shoulder is a perfect fun and flirty summer look.
What really knocked it out of the park for me – it’s under $30 from Target! Yep, you read correctly! And there’s a ton of cute graphic tees, swimsuits, dresses, and tops. The clothing department right now at Target is on fire! The new Knox Rose line is so cute and comparable to the Free People style. And now Victoria Beckham has come out with her own line at Target – What!!!!
Target is straight up crushing it right now in all departments! I have to exercise serious restraint when I go to Target (which is frequently because there is one walking distance from my house right beside a Chick-fil-A – don’t get me started…) I could easily spend $500 on every visit, but get so much bang for my buck. Everything is great quality and so affordable. You can add several classic staples and a few trendy pieces to your wardrobe without spending a mint.
The shoe department is always full of the cutest wedges, heels, sandals, flip-flops, and sneakers. Target is carrying dupes on tons of designers and their duping skills are killer! I recently picked up a pair similar to THESE fun and colorful sandals. The jewelry department is now carrying SugarFix by BaubleBar - need I say more? Check out some of my SugarFix favorites below including THIS and THIS.
Home décor has always been a favorite department at Target, but lately, they’ve taken it to another level. Throws, pillows, area rugs, and accents of all shapes, sizes, and textures seem to find their way into my cart in-store or online with ease. I just purchased THIS shag rug and I'm nuts over it! I never knew I could be this gaga over a rug.
The stationary and paper goods section is full of the best planners, organizers, and notebooks. I end up with a new planner about every other visit. I already have four for 2017?!?! And the Bullseye section with the items for $1, $3, and $5 – are you kidding Target? I love and am such a sucker for it all! Kudos to you, Target! Keep on keepin’ on! – Jill xoxo
